A saying many tv shows and books have implied. A saying we’ve probably even said to ourselves at times…
Fake it ’til you make it.
Does it really work? Is it worth it? When do you stop faking it?
There are times when you may be going through a slump. Not sure when the sun will shine a little brighter for you. You put on a facade to push through the frustration and swirl of emotions. But instead, why not be mindful of the good things. It’s not necessarily about faking it. It’s finding the good in each day, in each battle, and in yourself.
For example, after one breakup, I was pretty frustrated. A failed relationship, again? Why? I immediately wanted to jump into another one to forget the last. But I realized, it wasn’t the solution. The solution was more about ensuring the relationship with myself was solid again first. Being ok with the breakup because it happened for a reason. Because it wasn’t meant to be. The relationship with myself was more important and more valuable. Easier said than done, but I knew that reminding myself of that each day was a way to get there. It wasn’t faking the love for myself, it was focusing on it again and again until it became a reality. And then all of a sudden, the next relationship would be standing in front of me…just waiting. Waiting for me to make it.
Sometimes it’s about smiling a little more. Even forcing a smile. Even forcing the good times. Even forcing yourself to get back out there. After a while, you won’t be forcing anymore, it’ll just be what it is.
…until you make it.
