We grew up thinking we had to put others’ first and not be selfish by choosing what we wanted, for ourselves. Helping others, putting others needs before ours, being there when they wanted us / needed us. Putting our needs aside, for theirs.
Now, I’m not saying it’s wrong to help others. To be there for the ones we love. To help them in their time of need. To put down what you’re doing and be there for them.
But take this for a spin…
Would they do that for you? Are they there for you? Would that person pick up their phone to answer your text? Do they respond when you need them to?
Or do they put themselves first? Do they put others in front of you?
Again, I’m not saying this is wrong, but it’s something to consider. Food for thought.
Everyone has their own lives, and you have yours. What do you want out of life? What do you want to pursue? What gives you happiness? Once in a while, perhaps every week, a little bit everyday, pursue you. Pursue your passion, your career goals, your fitness goals, and what you want in life. Whether that be making a chocolate cake or running a marathon or changing careers, find what makes you, you.
It’s okay to let others wait, especially if they make you wait too. For once in your life, remember, this is your life.
Live it. Love it. Be it.
