Is your Facebook and/or Instagram feed filled with friends visiting northern New England for the leaves changing, going apple picking, carving pumpkins, and anything else that can be considered seasonal to autumn?
Raising my hand.
Trust me, I have nothing against the above, and I am the first to grab a glass of apple cider the second I can.
But sometimes it all feels like a seasonal highlight reel. All the great perks without any of the reality behind the hours to drive there, the apple pie that didn’t quite work out, or that poor pumpkin that fell off the wagon. No cider donut for you.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve done all the seasonal things and had my share in the past, that I don’t feel the need to repeat the reel each year, or share every moment of the seasonal greatness. Autumn is my favorite season, however short it may be – it’s the perfect crisp air, ability to cozy up on the couch with a sweatshirt and blanket, and taking the most theatrical photos of the trees that surround us. Hot chocolate with all the marshmallows, and of course the smell of homemade chili warming in the pot.
It’s my own form of seasonal happiness and my own seasonal highlight reel. Not everyone’s needs to be the same, nor should it feel the same. Let yours feel like you, and everything your moments should capture.
Cheers to all the pumpkin goodness.
