reading made simpler

We all have our excuses. I don’t have time. I have other things to do. I don’t want to carry a book with me. My commute is too hectic. But reading has truly never been easier, and I dig it.

First I took the leap a few years back into the Kindle and all the digital versions of books. It makes it so I can always have 20 different titles on me whether it’s through my iPad or iPhone. It allowed me to read on my commute, when I’m at the gym, when I’m waiting for an appointment, and even on a lazy Sunday inbetween errands. Done. Simple.

And now, there’s Audible. For a while, I was a total debby downer on the thought that I could get into podcasts or listening to books. It felt like such an old fogie thing to do. Then SERIAL came into our lives, and my whole world turned upside down. I was now listening to podcasts during my 2 mile walk to work. I was excited to walk the 2 miles and they went so much faster with a story unfolding as walked those blocks. And then came the free trial from Audible. I was hooked. I was able to get books I had been wanting to read but felt daunting to do so, including Game of Thrones. The books are huge, and the books on Audible are no shorter but somehow listening to how the dragons were born versus reading them felt easier. I listened to Tina Fey tell me how being bossy was apart of life. And Amy Poehler on how saying “yes please” was not a bad thing.

Audible books are nothing new, they just have a more modern and accessible take to them. Still unsure? Try a free trial for yourself. Might be worth it.
