Give yourself permission

What fulfills you? What makes you happy each day? Is it sleeping in a little longer, or taking time to cook a full dinner, or perhaps it’s giving yourself the time to sit and meditate. Whatever it might be, give yourself permission. Allow yourself the time and ability to do what makes you feel better.

I’ve realized over time, more so recently, that it’s important to listen to your body, your mind, and your emotions. I used to think I had to do it all to be happy. I had to have it all to be happy. I refused to give up certain parts of my life, to do better at others. I wanted to do well at them all. I wanted to be one of those people who could juggle all the madness, and come out shiny and happy. I may have been shiny, but it was more likely from stress and sweat. Yes, I could do it all, but my happiness was less then stellar. I was tired.

So then what?

I gave myself permission to take on what I wanted, and take on less. I gave myself permission to breathe a little.

For instance, you’ve probably realized we put out a little less content on Radiate Daily. Why? Because in the end, it’s about quality not quantity. It allows you to read a more meaty post, and something that truly has heart behind it. And it allows me to feel more dedicated and excited to write. When you spend your whole work day on a computer, and get home to your radiate daily community, you want to give them something valuable. I believe in all of you, and I want you to believe in me too.

In addition, I’ve been allowing myself to sleep in and not always force myself to go the gym 6 days a week. If I make it 4 days a week and they were amazing workouts, awesome. If I really want that dessert, and don’t want to hold myself back that evening, who cares. It’s all about moderation, as we know. And it’s also about living the life we have today. If we’re constantly spinning our wheels, and not allowing ourselves to enjoy that moment, what are we really doing anyway?
