Lemon. It’s awesome. It’s not the best alone, but within food, and beverages, it’s the perfect blend of tart and sweet. And according to healthline and the Food and Nutrition board, one of the main benefits of lemon include hydration. Obviously being taken with water, but it’s a way more fun and easy way to drink more water throughout the day. At my office we have a fruit and lemon water out each day…and let’s just say I drink 3-4 more glasses a day just because of that. Huge!
So what else?
Obviously it’s got a decent dose of Vitamin C. You don’t need orange juice for it. What I also enjoy as that i feel like it improves my skin quality the more I have lemon water (it’s not just the water helping with that action).
And because I’ve had digestion issues for quite a while, I’m a big sucker for anything that can help settle my stomach. My favorite is a lemon ginger tea, which really allows my body to chill out after a meal that may not have been the best choice…or just in general.
Another fave is taking a little lemon water heated in the AM because the temperature of the water first thing can help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body. Double win.
Supposedly it also helps with weight loss, freshening breath, and preventing kidney stones. The benefits are endless.
